Can I get a discount or better price?
Even though this is THE most asked question, the answer is not so simple. Our prices are set based upon our cost of goods, the labor necessary to install or repair the garage door and many other costs. We have to consider fuel, employment cost, vehicle expenses, advertising and a whole bunch of other items before we can even think of profit. In the end we have to make a profit in order to provide these services and to be in business to warranty our work. The price you pay is a fair price and any discount is only reducing our profit not our expenses. We require a profit to stay in business. However sometimes we do offer discounts because of special purchases from our Manufacturers. You will see these in the specials page here on our website. Back to Top

What is a "High Cycle" spring?
Beware of some companies trying to fool you into buying something you don't need. A high cycle spring means the wire and length of the spring are such that it "should" last longer then the spring that was on the door. A typical homeowner can not visually tell if a spring is a high cycle spring so it is important to work only with trusted companies if you believe a standard spring will not meet your needs. One company's idea of a high cycle may be really different then another company's idea. When we feel it is necessary to high cycle a spring installation we use a formula that produces a minimum of 5 times the normal cycle life of the spring that was on the door.

How do I lock my garage door if I have an electric door opener?
Most door openers prohibit your door from being manually opened if they are installed correctly. However nothing is perfect and you may want to consider some additional locking systems approved for electric door openers. If you do use a basic dead bolt type lock, be sure to un-plug your door opener so it is not used inadvertently. This will result in damage to the door and door opener.

Can I stain a wood garage door?
Yes you can stain a wood door, however there are many reasons NOT to stain a wood door. If you are to consider staining, it is best to apply several coats of a marine rated varnish to a stained door so you get the best protection. Our recommendation is to hire or consult a licensed professional painting contractor and follow their guidelines.

Do you offer emergency or after hours repairs or service?
No, we do not offer any after hours or emergency repairs. Be cautious using a company that offers emergency service at what seems a reasonable price. These companies often take advantage of you and will charge you as much as $800 to $1,000 for a simple repair that could be done by others for around $200.00. Check Ripoff.com and Yelp before you hire an after hours company.

Can I open a door with a broken electric door opener? See our Video
Yes, most if not all electric door openers have a manual release cord or lever that allows you to disconnect the trolley or some drive mechanism from the door so you can open the door. However you have to be on the inside of the garage to do this. Some garages are caves or vaults with the garage door as the only entrance, In this case look for a "vault release" keyed lock at eye level in the door. This vault release keyed cable is attached to the release mechanism for access from the outside of the garage.

What if my door opens with the remote but will not close?
This symptom is likely the opener safety sensors mounted near the floor on each side of the doorway. These sensors must be clear of obstructions and aiming at each other for the door opener will go in the close direction. Be carful that the door can be safely operated before assuming this sensor issue is the problem. Do not attempt to close a door that is out of the tracks or has a roller falling out. These doors can be very dangerous or deadly. Call a qualified repairman.
